Vom 24. bis 27. Juni werden rund 59 Galerien und Institutionen ihre KünstlerInnen unter dem Dach der ikonischen Marx Halle (Karl-Farkas-Gasse 19, 1030 Wien) präsentieren, darunter auch die zwei rumänischen Galerien: Jecza Gallery und Suprainfinit Gallery. Mit einem innovativen neuen Format findet die SPARK Art Fair Vienna erstmalig als neue internationale Kunstmesse in Wien statt. SPARK wird ausschließlich Solopräsentationen zeigen und zusätzlich werden drei kuratierte Fokus-Sektionen durch renommierte KuratorenInnen geboten: „Utopia: Post-War“ von Sabine Breitwieser, „Perspectives“ von Tevž Logar und „Interface – Contemporary New Media and Digital Art“ von Marlies Wirth.
Jezca Gallery, Temeswar, präsentiert Werke von Tincuța Marin und Suprainfinit Gallery, Bukarest, ist Teil der Fokus-Sektion „Perspectives“ mit Werken von Alessandro Teoldi.
Aufbauend auf die diesjährige Messe möchte SPARK als Produktionsplattform für KünstlerInnen und Galerien fungieren, die neue, eigens für die Messe produzierte Werke, präsentiert. Somit soll SammlerInnen die Gelegenheit geboten werden, Zugang zu Primärpositionen zu erhalten.
In der Hauptsektion der Messe werden Beiträge von lokalen und internationalen Galerien gezeigt. Dabei wird ein Überblick über die führenden Talente des Kunstmarkts geboten.
Jecza Gallery founded in 2013 in Timisoara, Romania had from the outset a strong propensity for the local historical scene, very important in the 60s and 70s (the Sigma group among others). It represents artists and artist collectives, historical figures but also young and prominent personalities with a special interest in the contemporary sculpture and experimental art forms; Through curated juxtapositions of artists of different generations the gallery encourages in-depth research projects related to various art practices. Alongside an art foundation and publishing house founded in 2001, the gallery became a strong research center for the heritage of modern and contemporary art in Eastern Europe.
Suprainfinit Gallery develops a programme that highlights Romanian and international, emerging and mid-career artists. Having recently expanded its curatorial framework with SEQUENCE – a vitrine project and SALTMINE – a temporary exhibition & performance programme underneath the main space, the gallery seeks to engage in a multilayered approach to artistic contexts and contents. After producing several exhibitions in its initial space, and followed by a nomad experience in chaotic and ever fascinating Bucharest, SUPRAINFINIT recently moved in its new and permanent location. SUPRAINFINIT heralds the name of a plural and utopian universe created by artist collective Apparatus 22. The gallery was founded by Suzana Vasilescu in September 2015 and is currently co-directed with independent curator Cristina Vasilescu.
